How to help family and friends with mental illness
Mental Health is stigmatised all over the world even in this day and age. We see a lot of our family and friends suffering but refusing to accept help.
Mental illness can be hard to accept both for the person who is diagnosed and also for his/her family and friends. If you know of someone who is struggling but is hesitant to seek professional help, please see this video.
1. Accept you cannot force people to seek help
2. Do not dismiss their feelings and emotions
3. Listen without bias or judgements
4. Create a safe space for them to express
5. Keep it confidential
